The Sakha Junior Science Academy is organizing the Second Essay Competition to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the First President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), His Excellency Mikhail Nikolaev. His Excellency celebrates his 84th birthday on 13th November. The First President of Yakutia has made important changes that have positively affected generations of young people. In this period of global uncertainty, his advice to think globally but act locally has become a guiding principle for many young people: empowering them to achieve more and aim for higher goals, and building confidence and courage to contribute to the community and the wider world.

ESSAY THEME:
Next year we will also be celebrating the 250th anniversary of Count Mikhail Speranky, an eminent statesman and reformer in the development of the Russian nation hood. How did his heritage, his reforms affect the lives of the people of Siberia and Yakutia? Are Speransky’s ideas and ideals relevant today? What can one learn from Speransky’s life story?
GUIDELINES:
1. The Essay should be written in good English and it may be submitted by anyone up to 18 years old (as of November 13, 2021) and who is currently a high school student.
2. The Essay must not exceed 500 words.
3. The Essay must be submitted via the SCIENTIA VINCES ESSAY COMPETITION 2021 Google Form.
4. All entries with missing information required in the competition form will not be considered.
5. Each person can submit only one entry. The receipt of the essay will not be acknowledged.
6. The Essay must be original and unpublished.
7. Plagiarized entries will be rejected.
8. The Essay must be written by a single author. Co-authored essays are not accepted.
9. The entrant must submit a downloadable video link of a recorded video with the participant reading the essay aloud. The video file should be uploaded to any downloadable cloud storage.
10. The copyright of the submitted essays will be transferred to the organizer of this competition.
11. Deadline: All entries must be received by November 13, 2021 (23:59 Yakutsk Time).
12. The entrant's videos accepted for the competition will be uploaded to the Sakha Junior Science Academy YouTube channel (youtube.sjsa.ru).
13. All winners will be announced on November 18, 2021, on the Sakha Junior Science Academy website http://lensky-kray.ru/.

The organizers are not obliged to answer any inquiries concerning the result of the competition.
14. The following awards will be given:
- 1st Prize: Certificate, prize of 50,000 Roubles* and gift (1 entrant),
- 2nd Prize: Certificate, prize of 25,000 Roubles* and gift (2 entrants),
- 3rd Prize: Certificate and gift (5 entrants) and Honourable Mention Certificate (25 awards);
- Additional awards (Recognition for Effort, Original Reasoning, Top YouTube view count and rating) may also be conferred if applicable (*- is subject to personal 13% tax deduction).
15. The Organiser reserves the right to amend the Rules & Regulations without giving prior notification or any reasons thereof.
